3PL and warehousing companies use EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) to exchange business information digitally through a standardized format. This technology enables businesses to maintain inventory control and track the real time processing of goods through the supply chain. Integration of EDI data with a given business’s accounting or warehouse systems is also common because it can reduce processing time even further. Furthermore, it enables the business to use a system that they are most familiar and comfortable with.
